How the Game of Go inspired the QR Code

“A QR code can be read five times faster than a typical bar code.” The quick-response (QR) code was introduced in 1994 by Denso, a Japanese automotive manufacture company in Aichi. Its invention was inspired by the boar game GO. Every piece is placed at intersections on the board. A player knows where the pieces are even if the pieces are a little off the intersection point. Masahiro Hara, the inventor of QR codes, applied the idea such that the pixelated parts on a QR code are doubled.
